Government's response

PMIndia: PM launches financing facility of Rs 1 Lakh Crore under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund

The government states the fund provides loans with 3% interest subvention and credit guarantee to farmers, PACS, FPOs and agri-entrepreneurs, and that the scheme runs over a multi-year period.

Analysis

On 15 May 2020 the Finance Minister announced a Rs 1 lakh crore financing facility for farm-gate and post-harvest infrastructure under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, launched by the Prime Minister on 9 August 2020.

As on 30 June 2025, Rs 66,310 crore had been sanctioned for 1,13,419 projects, according to a PIB note; a Lok Sabha reply in February 2025 reported Rs 56,334 crore sanctioned for 92,393 projects as on 26 January 2025.

The facility is a credit line routed through banks and financial institutions, with interest subvention and credit guarantee. Sanctions remain below the Rs 1 lakh crore facility size, and the scheme period has been extended.

Notes

The original scheme document described a 10-year window (FY2020-FY2029); later communications refer to loan disbursement completing by the end of FY2025-26. Because the target is a facility size rather than a dated milestone, the verdict is in-progress. [ingest: 1 evidence link(s) blocked/unreachable to the checker; verify manually]
